Soul Food Monday!

I never realized how important it is to nourish my soul just as much as I nourish my body.  Feeding my soul with warmth, positivity, and love is so crucial to my well being and relationships.

"You have to grow from the inside out.  None can teach you, none can make you spiritual.  There is no other teacher but your own soul."
-Swami Vivenkananda

Today I spent time nourishing my soul with time.  Time spent doing the things that I love... time spent with my children... time to myself.

I used to think that if I did not spend each and every moment of my day in a productive manner- something that I could deem worthy of a feeling of professional accomplishment, then my entire day was wasted.  I used to live by phrases like:  the early bird gets the worm and stay busy like a worker bee.

I don't live like that anymore.  Don't get me wrong, I am still a clean freak and incredibly organized but I have found efficient ways to stay neat and tidy so that I can spend more time on the important things in life... my boys, my hobbies, and myself.

Today Aidan and I dropped Trystan off at school and drove to a neighboring town.  This town has my favorite coffee shop and an easily accessible beach.  I grabbed my wallet, keys, and camera and we were off!

We sat and talked in the coffee shop for about an hour and then headed to the beach for some exercise and fun.  We looked at tide pools, jogged the beach, got completely soaked by the tide, and got spied on by a harbor seal!  We had so much fun and took some really great pictures.

I got home with a renewed sense of energy and an abundance of happiness that I spent my day off at the beach.  I am incredibly blessed!

It is incredibly important that we find balance in our lives.  We need to balance the necessities like:  cooking, cleaning, paying bills, and work with the other necessities like:  time to ourselves, laughing, coffee with friends, and living.

Have a blessed day!
