I'm Going Naked!

I feel like going naked today.

Seriously, going naked.  I am going to walk through the halls all day long- head held high, supermodel posture fully engaged, give no fucks attitude in high gear... completely naked.

Naked face that is.

I am wearing no make up today.  If you know me, you know that this is a truly rare occasion.  I love my make up.  I'm a 'never leave the house without it' kinda girl... always have been.  There is just something about being able to completely transform from frumpy housewife to sexy pin up girl in less than an hour that I have always found alluring.

I have many different personas and can transform into any one of them within an hour with my trusty curling iron, foundation, eye makeup, and lipstick.  Au naturale beachy chic= round brush, blow dryer, mousse, foundation, light eye makeup, and nude lip gloss- voila!  Lucille Ball starlet= pin curls, bobby pins, thick black cat eye liner, mascara, red lips- perfection!

I am beautiful... with or without make up so why do I feel that it is necessary to cover my face with beauty products in order to leave the house?  Can I not just go to work without the assistance of age defyers, lash enhancers, and color correctors?

I am going to start taking a few days to leave the house naked and I am going to call myself au naturale rather than frumpy housewife.  It's liberating!  I will not shame myself with adjectives like messy and lazy just because I choose not to cover my natural beauty with cosmetics once in a while.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not going to clean out the vanity and throw away all of my make up but I am going to start taking a break once in a while.  I am going to let my skin relax and breathe without products that claim to make you beautiful... because I am already beautiful.

*This picture was taken this morning right after waking up.  There was no make up or editing of this image in any way at all... I hadn't even had coffee!

  2. Your beautiful au naturel!! I need to do that more often...I think my eyes are getting permanently stained by the eyeliner I wear because I wear it so much!! It's nice to have a make-up break every once in a while! =)

  3. Naked is the way to go! (If that's what you prefer - no make up judgement here) I haven't worn makeup in about three years and I love it! I think it's always a shock to see yourself without it on, but once you go a few days, you begin to forget about it. I just think my life is easier without worrying about putting a different face on. :)

  5. Hey Tuesday Tea Party Buddy! Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier.

I applaud you for what you're doing. Us girls get too caught up in those societal pressures, and you're right; you are naturally beautiful! I hardly wear any make-up (just some light shadow, liner, and mascara), yet, I rarely leave the house without it on. A few days ago, I was having a naturally pretty kind of a day, and was proud of myself for going the whole day without makeup. Then I woke up the next morning and was totally not feeling it. You've given me the inspiration to do it again and feel pretty. We don't need makeup!

  6. I loveloveLOVE getting to dress up and have my warpaint on. But, I also enjoy doing the au naturel majority of the time- it actually makes it even more of an occasion when I DO spend time doing my makeup. :)

But I share the sentiment that we're all beautiful with or without the make-up and we should all feel proud of it!

Thanks for the follow, btw, and I followed you back. :)

  10. As a self-confessed make-up addict. I really think I should try going naked a bit more often.
I think my skin will thank me!

  11. Love this! I myself do not like to do makeup on the weekends. I'm more of a "scrub" on the weekends. Sweatpants are amazing! LOL
