Excelsior

Wow, I have to start this post by giving all of my respect to the men and women of our armed forces who have to deal with deployment.  I don't believe that I could live your lives.  I admire your courage and perseverance.

You see, we are currently maintaining two households.  I am living in a hospital in Portland with our youngest while my husband is living at home with our oldest two.  It's difficult.  He works thirteen hour days Monday through Wednesday and then has Thursday off to spend time with the boys, cook, clean, and whatever else he needs to accomplish until Friday when he drives up to Portland.  Once he gets to Portland, he visits me and Trystan in the hospital for about an hour, kisses me goodbye, and then I get in the car and drive home to spend Saturday with the older two boys, grocery shop for them, and get my errands done at home until I have to turn around and drive back to the hospital on Sunday morning.

We have to do this for eight weeks.

I am already emotionally spent and physically exhausted and we are only two weeks in.

Thank God I am a positive person!  Just when I think I've hit a wall and had enough, I take a look around me.  I have a wonderful support system, a beautiful family, and this is all going to really help Trystan's future.  There are a lot of worst situations that I could be in and I have no reason to complain.

For tonight, I will wash my laundry, watch a movie with my two oldest, climb into my comfy bed, and get ready to get in the car and drive back to Portland tomorrow.  Life is beautiful and I am blessed.

Excelsior. ;-)

  1. When this is over and you're all back together again under one roof, just think how great that will be! Keep that thought in your head over the next few weeks -- you and your husband can do it!

  2. That sounds so tough! High five to you for being strong and POSITIVE! So many people aren't when placed in these situations, and I'm sure your kids will always look up to you and your husband for being the strength and the rocks of your family.
