What I Learned This Week

I learned that I am proud of myself. This is probably the first time that I can honestly say that. I have made it through soooo much this year and am about to embark on my biggest challenge yet; it will be trying, emotional, and difficult but I will make it through and be the picture of poise for Trystan.

I learned that I have lovely neighbors. They threw a neighborhood "after Christmas party" in one of their shops. They had a lovely spread and spirits and were very welcoming.

I learned that my children are very grateful. I made sure that the focus this year was not on monetary gifts for Christmas. There was a very small budget, handmade gifts, and the boys were just as thrilled as they were in past years when I spent thousands of dollars.

I learned that the crisp, chilly weather makes for a more 'Christmasy Christmas.' Even though we did not have a White Christmas, it was brisk and frosty and soooo wonderful!

I learned that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Victoria's Secret makeup! I had never tried it (not even when I worked there) and have recently become obsessed with it... especially the eyeshadow pallates.

I learned that Aidan has fantastic taste in music! His IPod has such an ecclectic mix of: Queen, Dr. Dre, John Mayer, Bruno Mars, Bad Company, and Bon Jovi.

I learned that tuna-pineapple dip sounds awful but actually tastes wonderful! I had it at the "after Christmas party" and it was really good!

Tuna Pineapple Dip:
•1 can tuna, drained and flaked (however we use fresh tuna, not canned)
•1 can crushed pineapple, drained reserving liquid
•1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
•3 tbls pineapple juice
•Dash salt
•Dash nutmeg
•Assorted chips or crackers

Directions :
1.Combine all ingredients, except chips and crackers.
2.Blend into a paste.
3.Chill.
4.Serve with assorted chips and crackers.

I learned that most people truly enjoy thoughtful, handmade gifts. I crafted, photographed, and mod-podged a lot of my gifts and they were the favorites! Yay!
