Welcome Home 2013!

Well, in twelve hours we can kiss 2012 goodbye. Soooo much has happened for us this year- some heartbreaking, some inspiring, and some just laughable. The London Olympics, Kony 2012, President Obama being reelected, Whitney Houston's tragic death, One Direction invading America, Amanda Todd's suicide bringing bullying to the forefront, Lance Armstrong in the middle of a drug scandal, The Hunger Games entertaining millions, Honey Boo Boo being a household name, Hurricane Sandy devastating the Eastern shore, and PSY creating "Gangnam Style", the dance craze of the year.

Amidst all of this, I made a lot of personal changes in 2012. I quit my stable, prosperous management job, packed up the family and the fur babies and moved to the rainy, beach side Pacific Northwest. I was devastated by a miscarriage and thrilled to find out that my forever friend is finally having a baby. I started a new life venture in the fishing industry and spent my first non-retail holiday season at home with my family. I started crafting again and found my true passion.

One of the biggest changes that I've made this year is creating Enjoying the Epiphany. I started this blog in April, wrote a few posts here and there... nothing too serious. It was just going to be a place that I could express my feelings, do some reviews, and work on my writing. Wonderfully, it has become so much more than that. This blog has become a part of me... it has become my epiphany. Through this blog I have been able to rediscover my love of reading and writing and meet new friends with similar interests in books and writing techniques. I have been able to be my
foul-mouthed, sarcastic self and my readers just laugh and ask for more! (You guys are sick!) I have been invited to meetings and groups of writers who encourage each other, teach one another, and don't judge.

Most importantly, I have learned to genuinely, whole heartedly love myself. I have learned to look at my flaws and imperfections as stepping stones toward growth rather than idiosyncrasies that hinder my ability to be a good person. I have stood in front of a camera more in 2012 than I have in my entire life! Through learning to love my body and beauty I have become comfortable in my skin. I love my jiggly tummy, my stretch marks, scars, and stubby fingers. I love my freckles, dimples, and hazel brown eyes. I love it all because it makes me who I am... all of these body parts and imperfections are lovely in my eyes. They are Sarah.

I am so excited for what 2013 holds for me.  I am in love with my life for the first time in my life and it is the best feeling anyone can feel.  I wish this for all of you... this peace and familiarity with oneself.  Cheers to finding true love... cheers to loving yourself.
